About Sally Ann

Sally Ann was officially founded in 2008 in a teeny apartment in Lansing, Michigan by Sally Keiser. After sewing original designs and alterations for extra cash while attending college at Michigan State University, Sally realized her future wasn't in her Anthropology studies, but in the unknown path of small business. She started selling totes and clutches in a local record store, started a Myspace page and shortly after that, an Etsy shop.

She told herself one thing --- "I don't plan to take over the fashion world, but I want to make a difference. I want to see my bag on a stranger walking past me on the street, and be able to say, hey, these hands made that! I want to change the way people shop and consume. I want people to care where their goods come from."

From fashion trucks to mobile living, Sally Ann has run the gamete of sewing, handbags, lingerie, embroidery, gallery and fashion shows, teaching sewing classes, crowd funding festivals, instructional blogging, and expanding into new territory every step of the way, never afraid to try new things. But, alas, the company always goes back to it's roots of handbags and accessories.

Fast forward to 2017, Sally is back in West Michigan, living in Grand Rapids, after 8 years of living in the south and traveling the country. Sally is ready to take over Grand Rapids with slow fashion!

With years and years of sewing and building up Sally Ann as a company, perfecting designs, and construction, Sally is poised to hit the ground running with new designs and perfected handbags. Each and every bag, Sally hand cuts and sews in her home studio. Every bag is made with love.
